Dr. Deborah Birx
Dr. Deborah Leah Birx once comparatively unknown is now referred to as the Coronavirus warrior. Her consistent expertise and intelligent presentation of information and instructive charts is reflective of her distinguished career in the medical discipline and global area. This remarkable woman, a native Pennsylvanian, graduated Houghton College, earned her medical degree at Pennsylvania State University. She displayed her flexibility and desire for diversity by joining the U.S. Army Reserves which finally culminated by her serving in the regular Army from 1994 to 2008, achieving the rank of Colonel. Within that time frame, Dr. Birx completed two fellowships, one in clinical immunology and the other in Dr. Fauci’s laboratories in the areas of allergies and diagnostics. Then she furthered her career as the assistant chief of the Walter Reed Allergy/Immunology Service. Her experience and work in HIV/AIDS along with Ebola in Africa earned her Ambassador-at-Large and U.S. Global Aids Coordinator. Our appreciation for her dedication and service through the years and now to the Coronavirus Task Force of President’s Trump.
